Serve with Us

We are called to glorify God in everything we do, so we strive for excellence—but we need your help to get there! Below are some areas where you can serve, and if you're interested, you can learn more information about each one.

Volunteer Opportunities

Children's Ministry

Children's Ministry

We love our Sonlight kids, and we know you will too! If inspiring the next generation and leading them begin forming their own faith walk sounds like something you want to be a part of, we would love to connect. Typically, our Children's Ministry volunteers commit to serving once a month. All Children's Ministry volunteers will need to pass a background check.

  • Nursery (0-23 Months) - You'll arrive a little early, be ready to hold and love on our babies during service, and stay a little after service to help reset the room.
  • Preschool (2-5 Years) - We rely on both teachers and room helpers to teach and play with the children, and share with them a simple Bible lesson. All materials will be provided, all you'll need to bring is some loving energy!
  • Children (Kindergarten - 5th Grade) - If elementary-age kiddos are where your passion is, you will love adventuring with this group. From worship songs to Bible time, the focus of this age group is to encourage their walk with the Lord and help them develop a faith foundation that will last a lifetime.

For more information or to take the next step, contact the Room Leader for the age level you're interested in using the button below.

This may be the place for you. All Student Ministry volunteers will need to pass a background check. Men's Ministry

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. The purpose of the men’s ministry is to help men get to know God and each other better. Volunteers in this ministry help plan and coordinate events for men and their families.

Worship Team

Worship Team

If your heart's passion is to worship the Lord, this is an opportunity to use your musical, technical, or creative gifts to create worship environments that help people connect with God, both in the room and online. Typically, we ask our worship and tech team volunteers to serve once a month, but this can be flexible depending on your availability.

  • Worship Band - This modern worship team is energetic, dynamic, and ready to rock out on Sunday mornings. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights, at 6:00 p.m. for vocalists, and at 7:00 p.m. for instrumentalists. We then run through the songs again on Sunday mornings starting at 9:00 a.m.
  • Tech Team - From the soundboard to the livestream, to the operation of lyrics and slides on Sunday morning, this volunteer-led team is made up of folks from a variety of backgrounds who have all come together with one goal: creating a worship experience where people can encounter Christ. You don't have to be super tech-savvy to make a difference!

For more information about these teams, or to apply, reach out to Abby Gadd.

Greeter Team

The Greeter Team warmly welcomes everyone on Sunday mornings so that people feel at home from the moment they arrive. From the parking lot to the front door, this team is often the first point of connection on Sunday mornings, welcoming people as they arrive and helping create a friendly atmosphere. Volunteers typically serve once a month, with flexibility based on availability.

Hospitality Team

The Hospitality Team is all about creating a welcoming environment, whether it’s a hot cup of coffee, a special welcome to a new visitor, or a clean and comfortable space to worship in, this team plays a huge role in helping guests and church family alike experience the love of Christ in practical ways. Volunteers typically serve once a month, with flexibility based on availability.

  • VIP Table – The VIP Table is dedicated to warmly greeting first-time guests, answering questions, helping them feel comfortable, and sharing information about Sonlight. It’s a great role for those who love meeting new people and helping others feel at home.
  • Refreshments Team - This team prepares and serves coffee and light refreshments, making it easy for people to relax and connect before service.
  • Cleaning Team – This behind-the-scenes team helps reset the space after services by tidying up, taking out trash, and preparing the building for the week ahead. Their work makes a big difference in keeping our church tidy and ready for every gathering.

FAQ's

Volunteering is one of the best ways to live out your faith in practical ways. When we serve, we reflect Jesus’ love, grow spiritually, and help create spaces where others can encounter God. It’s not about filling a need, it’s about being part of what God is doing through the church and the community.

Most teams offer flexible schedules, often serving once or twice a month. We believe healthy serving leaves room for rest, family, and worship, so we work hard to create rhythms that are sustainable and life-giving, not overwhelming.

Each ministry has its own schedule, but we plan ahead and communicate clearly so you know what to expect. Whether it’s Sunday mornings, a weekday gathering, or occasional events, you’ll have advance notice and the ability to plan around your commitments.

We also know that schedules change, and so can availability. We’re happy to help you explore different teams and find a place that fits your interests, availability, and gifting. Serving isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s okay to try something before fully committing.

Life happens, and we understand that. Serving at Sonlight is built on grace and communication, not pressure. If your schedule shifts or you need to step back for a season, we’ll walk through that with you.

Getting started is simple. Choose an area you’re interested in, fill out a brief form, and a team leader will reach out to walk you through next steps. No pressure, just a conversation and a chance to see if it’s a good fit.

Feeling Inspired?

We'd love to have you join the team. Fill out this brief form to let us know about you and what you're interested in being involved with. Don't worry, this isn't legally binding, it's just an opportunity for us to get to know you and find the right spot for your gifts and talents to shine.
